Living our Dream
Alaska first got into our blood during summers in college. Nate came up to Alaska to work as a raft guide in Denali National Park and spent 6 seasons there. Debbie came up during college to work at Denali National Park as a park ranger, and spent 4 seasons there and at Talkeetna. We met in Denali, and got married several years later. We went back down to the lower 48 to finish school. We always wanted to come back to Alaska, and 3 kids and a dozen years later we moved to Tok.
Nate works at the Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge, headquartered in Tok, as a wildlife biologist. He thinks he has the best job possible, and would love to share with you his experiences tracking animals, bird banding, and keeping tabs on the wildlife in and around the area.
Nate also is the master gardener in the family. He would be happy to give you a tour of the garden, and greenhouse (aka: the jungle). He enjoys the challenge of raising fresh food in the short growing season of Tok!
Debbie keeps busy managing another kind of wildlife, their 3 children. She is a hockey mom, and enjoys teaching preschool during the school year, and being involved in Tok School and Tok Community Library. She works hard in the fall to preserve the fruits of the “jungle”.
We love to have adventures as a family, including salmon fishing (you might be here when the smokehouse is full of fillets…and are welcome to join us in a salmon bake around the fire pit!).
We also love to go berry picking, hiking, biking, rafting, canoeing, cross country skiing, trapping, and hunting.
We look forward to meeting you on YOUR adventure!
Have you hugged YOUR chicken today?
